Doug has taught music in the Shawnee Mission (KS) School District for over 25 years. He was the recipient of the 2010 Kansas Governor’s Arts Award for Arts in Education and the 2009 Johnson County Library Foundation Pinnacle Award for Arts Education. He has appeared as guest lecturer/clinician at the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) national convention, the Kansas Bandmasters Association (KBA) annual convention, the IAJE summer Teacher Training Institute and served as director of a student jazz all-star group at the National Association for Music Education (MENC) national convention. Doug has served as an adjunct music instructor at Baker University, MidAmerica Nazarene University and Kansas City Kansas Community College and, for 12 years, was a faculty member of the Great Plains Jazz Camp.
